#COMMUNITIES CAN

Grand Gestures have continued to defy convention by using the current time of Covid restrictions to expand and experiment with their creative talents. A grant from the National Lottery Community Fund means that we can share and dare ourselves to try new skills and take our love of dancing in different directions.

We are meeting the challenges of Covid by looking forward to a celebratory event and in the meantime we are combining our talents with technology to ensure we stay creatively connected through Covid.

Feet toes balance  path
Forward  feeling  soft  underfoot  walking on grass
Footprints  track  trail
Follow the way  trees  leaves
Autumn  piles  kicking  stamping swishing  running
Stop  stand  STILL
Silence  heart  beat  exhale
Sun on my face  warm  smile
Breathe in....

In my imagination
There is a network
of underfloor connection.
I sense the presence of others
Spread around
Our community
Reaching out
All connected through our feet.

A poem for a day.
What is a day?
A whole lot of hours
Or minutes
Or seconds
Timeless or timed
To the second.
Part of a whole lifetime
Over so quickly
Till tomorrow
Another day.
Which day?

I  know their names
we correspond in different spaces and places in
but
today our arrangements are wrong
the symmetry is out and the camera lies
but we still have a memory
a life and a light that says
just give them what they want
confidence in our eyes.

“The classes and visualisations are brilliant and just what I need Today I'm dancing around Michael and Jade's flat in London. Pirouetting mainly but some leaping too. I'm very light and my moves are wonderfully fluid and I'm so happy to be with my son.

The flat is on the top floor of a tower block - floor 17 (no cladding) and the views of London are stunning. The GG dance group all join me and Tommy leaps out of the lift and grand jetes round the room whilst the the others fly up to the windows outside, they all come in and swirl around my son and his partner who are smiling...”
